Jewelry Care

How to take care of your Positive Prints Jewellery?

Avoid water and humidity

Jewellery is a precious possession that deserves proper care and maintenance. Direct contact with water, whether it’s from the tap, swimming pool, or seawater, can have a negative impact on the appearance of your jewellery. It may lose its shine, become discoloured, or dull. Therefore, it’s essential to remove your jewellery before bathing or performing any household chores.

Remove jewellery when you shower or bathe and particularly when on the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water.

Protect against chemicals

Detergents and chemicals used in the kitchen, bathroom, as well as cosmetics (hair sprays, deodorants, perfumes) may be the cause of discolouration of jewellery or the skin in the location of its contact with jewellery. Silver particularly strongly reacts to chemical compounds by changing colour.

Avoid spraying perfume or applying creams directly onto your jewellery.

Store your jewellery in a clean, dry space

It’s essential to store your gold and silver jewellery properly to ensure that it stays in pristine condition. Jewellery that is not worn daily should be wrapped in a soft cloth and sealed in a separate string bag. This will limit the access of air and prevent the jewellery from darkening and being at risk of damage, scratching, or dust.

When storing chains, they must not be bent or coiled too tightly, as this may cause their permanent deformation or breakage.

A vital thing to remember is to provide a consistent storage temperature for jewellery – it cannot be too low or too high. Our jewellery chest should also be located away from any sources of moisture.

Clean to bring back its shine

If your jewellery becomes tarnished, the best way to clean it is with a jewellery polishing cloth or a soft lint-free cloth.
