The moon looked a particular way on the night you were born, and a different way on the night your partner was. Personalised Moon (formerly our Double Moon Phase) draws the real moon from 2-6 dates side by side on one print: a crescent for one birthday, a full moon for another, a waning gibbous for the night you married. Each phase is calculated for the exact date and place, and each one carries its own caption.

It is the simplest way to put several people, or several nights, on one piece of wall art. Two moons for a couple. Three or four for parents and their children, one moon per birth. Six for grandparents with a growing tribe of grandchildren. Because you choose the number, the print suits a new relationship as well as a large family, and you can order a fresh version when someone new arrives.

The phase of each moon is calculated from astronomical data for the date and location you enter, so a first-quarter moon over Edinburgh on a given night appears as exactly that. Choose a dark background for a dramatic, night-sky look or a pale one that suits a nursery or a hallway. Add a line above each moon and a caption below: names, dates, a short message.

Anniversaries, with the moons of the night you met and the night you married. New-baby gifts, with the moon of the birth beside the moons of the parents. Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, with a moon for every child. Christmas, for the family member who already has every mug and scarf they will ever need. Couples with a long-distance story often choose the moon over each of their cities on the same night.

Pick a colour scheme in the editor, add your dates and places, type the captions and watch the moons appear in the live preview. Then choose a poster, a framed poster, a canvas or a digital file to print locally, and select the size. The digital download arrives by email within minutes if the occasion is close.
